Can You Still Get Free Supercharging From Tesla?
The short answer
Only with a new car or by winning it. As of Oct 31, 2026, Tesla gives 2,000 free Supercharging miles when you trade in a gas or hybrid car for a new Tesla, and one year free on the Model Y L Premium Launch Series. Nine drivers will win lifetime free Supercharging in Tesla's 2026 competition. There's no free Supercharging for existing Model Y owners, and no holiday offer has been announced for 2026.
Tesla's free Supercharging offers come and go every few months, and old ones keep circulating. This page lists only what Tesla's own pages show, with the fine print, and it's updated when Tesla adds or ends an offer.
Free Supercharging offers live now
2,000 free Supercharging miles with a trade-in
Who gets it: Buyers of a new Tesla (custom order or new inventory) who complete a trade-in of a gas or hybrid car.
- • Miles expire two years after delivery and can't be postponed, transferred or cashed out.
- • Tesla-owned Superchargers only; congestion fees still apply.
- • Used vehicles and business sales aren't eligible. Tesla can revoke the miles if the trade-in falls through.

One year free on the Model Y L Premium Launch Series
Who gets it: Buyers of the Model Y L Premium Launch Series, listed from $61,990 before fees ($63,630 with destination and order fees).
- • Bundled with a year of FSD (Supervised) and Premium Connectivity, plus Launch Series badging.
- • The regular Model Y has no free Supercharging offer on the same page.

2026 Free Supercharging Competition
Who gets it: Tesla owners whose car doesn't already have free Supercharging. Commercial vehicles (taxi, rideshare, delivery) and Tesla employees are excluded.
- • Nine winners worldwide, three in the Americas: longest trip, most unique Supercharger sites, and most energy Supercharged in 2026.
- • The prize is free Supercharging for as long as you own the winning car. It can't be transferred.
- • You must open the 2026 Passport in the Tesla app before January 1, 2027. It launches in December.

How to enter the 2026 Free Supercharging Competition
It isn't a lottery. Tesla picks winners from your 2026 Supercharger stats, and every session since January 1, 2026 already counts. Enrollment isn't automatic, though:

In the car, turn on 'Share Charging Data with Tesla App' (under Charging).

Update the Tesla app to the latest version.

When the 2026 Passport appears in the app in December, open it. Opening it enrolls you and saves your stats.

Open it again after your last Supercharger session of the year, before January 1, 2027. Your final stats come from your last visit.
Winners are notified by email in January 2027, and free Supercharging is added to the winning car before March 1, 2027 (Tesla's rules).

NoneThere's no free Supercharging for existing Model Y owners. Charging at home is still the cheapest way to fuel the car. Source
How free Supercharging credits work
- • Tesla-owned sites only. Credits don't work at Superchargers Tesla doesn't own; there you see the price before you start.
- • Fees still apply. Supercharging-related fees, including congestion fees, aren't covered.
- • Check your balance in the app. Tap the menu, then Charging, to see credits and when they expire. Free Supercharging tied to the car shows under Specs and Warranty.
- • Buying used? Only the registered owner, or a driver they add, can see whether a car has free Supercharging. Ask the seller to show you before you pay extra for it.
Skip the "free Supercharging hacks"
Real offers appear on tesla.com/current-offers or in the Tesla app. Tesla says credits can't be transferred or redeemed for cash, so anyone selling Supercharging codes, credits or devices isn't offering a Tesla program. Don't give them your Tesla account login.

Nine drivers will also win lifetime free Supercharging in the 2026 Free Supercharging Competition. Existing Model Y owners get no free Supercharging.
Is there free Supercharging for Thanksgiving 2026?
Not as of Oct 31, 2026. Tesla's holiday Supercharging page still shows an older Thanksgiving offer: free off-peak charging, before 9 AM and after 8 PM, from Wednesday, November 23 to Sunday, November 27 on select routes in California, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. Those weekdays match 2022. This page will be updated if Tesla announces a 2026 offer.
How do I enter the 2026 Free Supercharging Competition?
Turn on 'Share Charging Data with Tesla App' in the car, update the Tesla app, and open the 2026 Passport in the app before January 1, 2027. Tesla says the Passport launches in December 2026 and enrollment isn't automatic. Every Supercharger session since January 1, 2026 already counts.
Where can I use free Supercharging credits?

How do I check whether a used Tesla has free Supercharging?
Tesla only shows it to the registered owner or a driver the owner has added in the Tesla app, under Specs and Warranty. If you're buying from a private seller, ask them to add you as a driver or show you that screen before you pay for the perk.
